The INTERCULTURAL INSTITUTE OF TIMISOARA was created in 1992 with the support of the Council of Europe and of local authorities of Timisoara. Along the years, the institute has co-ordinated and/or implemented several pilot projects mainly related to intercultural education, education for democracy and civil society development at local, national and international levels. The institute was involved in several international projects of the Council of Europe. The Intercultural Institute has become in 1998 the first organisation from Eastern-Europe to co-ordinate an international education project in the framework of the Socrates-Comenius Program of the European Commission.

DISTRIKT 0230 KIKINDA is a NGO committed to promoting civil society and multiethnic urban tradition in Voivodina and the Banat region. The organisation has initiated a local NGO resource centre and developed several projects aiming at inforcing the participation of citizens, regardless of gender, religion or ethnic origin to the sustainable development of Kikinda. Distrikt 0230 has initiated the BANNET project and collaborates with the Intercultural Institute since 1998.

SZEGED SUMMER UNIVERSITY
was founded in 1990 and is addressed to different age and professional groups, particularly to young people. About 150 participants from several SEE countries meet each year around themes such as local governance and democracy, regionalism and the civic area etc.

    DIASPORA FOUNDATION has developed a number of local and regional projects aiming at promoting the multicultural heritage of the Banat region and cross-border co-operation in the framework of the DKMT Euroregion. The foundation has been created by a group of outstanding intelectuals of hungarian origin from Timisoara. A good partnership has been developed both with the Intercultural Institute and with the Szeged Summer University.

TIMISOARA EUROPEAN CLUB has developed or has been involved in projects on intercultural education for children. The organisation has acquired experience in activities using arts and creative expression as tools for intercultural education. A long standing partnership has been developed with the Intercultural Institute and with the Banat Muzeum from Timisoara.
